There is something special about the look and feel of cork duck decoys. They have a natural coarse texture and a unique ride in the water. Autumn Wings offers a special decoy design we call Fatboy Cork Decoys.
As we mature as duck hunters the quality of the experience becomes paramount. Special hunting partners, building the ultimate hunting rig, and harvesting mature trophy drakes are all examples of quality experiences. These trophy birds may have lived many seasons and attained their stature by running the migration gauntlet successfully for years. Often times these mature birds flock together with others of there kind waiting to migrate till severe cold weather drives them from the northern breeding regions. The old-timers around here refer to these ducks as "the big northern birds". The Fatboy corks are designed to emulate those robust mature birds.
Fatboys are designed to convey the appearance of ducks that are relaxed on the water. As ducks relax there bodies appear to spread out more resulting in broad oval shapes when seen from overhead (the ducks eye view). To achieve the Fatboy look Autumn Wings hand-shaped the high-density cork bodies to be extra wide. Our mallard/black decoys are 15" X 9" weighing about 2.5 lbs each. In addition to conveying the desirable relaxed pose the wide bodies are very stable in even the roughest waters. A true Fatboy has a chunky over-sized head, the Autumn Wings hand-carved wood decoy heads with glass eyes work very nicely in this application. Additional heads are available. See Decoy Replacement Heads on this site. Our keels are made from cedar shaped to hold decoy line and ACE decoy anchors. They are notched to accept a 6? lead strap for those who desire more ballast. The decoy bodies are primed and then hand painted with acrylics using proven working decoy feather patterns.

Fatboy Cork Puddlers
This puddle duck series of Fatboys is solidly constructed of a large chunk of blackCork as well as a full size bottom board, a robust decoy for sure. Body dimensions are 15” long X 9” wide X 5” thick. The very full tail section shows off a generous profile even in rough water. These babies will be seen by the ducks near and far!
The Autumn Wings hand carved wooden heads are an elegant contrast to the oversized cork bodies. We can offer you 4 additional head poses to compliment the standard head included. Hunters on big water like our standard head, in protected water change over to the more relaxed dabbler, sleeper, and resting poses. Heads are secured with a ¼” bolt up through the keel terminating in our threaded insert. Show those blacks and mallards you mean business, add some Fatboys to your spread!
